Terms of Service
Last updated: June 2, 2026
Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of Better Design, including the web app at better-design.com, the Better Design MCP server that AI coding tools connect to, and the REST API. By creating an account, connecting the MCP server, or otherwise using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
If you use Better Design on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization, and "you" refers to that organization.
The service
Better Design helps developers and AI coding agents build production quality user interfaces. It provides a catalog of curated design systems, a library of UI principles and review rules, an icon search and install pipeline, and a generation pipeline that produces a custom design system from a natural language prompt. The service is delivered through the web app, the MCP server, and the API. We may add, change, or remove features over time.
Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 where local law sets a higher bar) to use Better Design. You are responsible for the activity under your account and for keeping your credentials, API keys, and access tokens secure. You can revoke any API key from your account settings. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized use.
Plans, credits, and billing
Better Design offers a free tier with a limited generation quota and one or more paid plans with a larger quota. Generation actions consume credits that are metered against your account across both the web app and MCP or API clients. Paid plans renew on the interval shown at checkout until cancelled. Except where required by law, fees already paid are non refundable. We may change pricing or quota with reasonable notice for future billing periods.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Break the law, infringe anyone's intellectual property, or violate anyone's privacy with the service.
- Probe, scrape, overload, or circumvent the rate limits, quotas, or authentication of the service.
- Resell, sublicense, or pass the service off as your own product without our written permission.
- Use the service to generate content that is hateful, harassing, deceptive, or otherwise prohibited by our policies.
- Interfere with other users or the integrity and security of the service.
We may rate limit, suspend, or terminate access that we reasonably believe violates these terms or puts the service or its users at risk.
Your content and license
You keep ownership of the prompts you write and the projects you create. You grant us a limited license to process that content solely to operate and improve the service, for example to generate a design system from your prompt and to keep your project coherent across turns. We do not sell your content and we do not train any AI model on the prompts or generated systems of any individual user. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle data.
Generated output
Subject to these terms and your plan, you may use the design systems, components, and code that the service generates for you, including in commercial projects. Output is provided without a warranty that it is original, error free, accessible, or fit for a particular purpose. You are responsible for reviewing and testing generated code before you ship it.
Third party design systems and trademarks
The catalog references design systems and brands owned by third parties. Those names and marks belong to their respective owners and are used for identification only. Reference in the catalog does not imply affiliation with or endorsement by those owners. You are responsible for respecting third party brand and trademark rights when you use any generated output.
MCP server and API
When you connect Better Design as an MCP server or call the API, requests are metered against your account when you authenticate with OAuth or an API key. Unauthenticated calls fall back to a limited anonymous trial tied to the request IP. You must not use the MCP server or API to build a competing catalog or to extract the underlying data set in bulk. We may change tool names, schemas, and limits as the service evolves, and will aim to keep breaking changes rare and documented.
Intellectual property
The Better Design service, including the catalog curation, the UI principle and review rule library, the generation pipeline, the software, and the brand, is owned by us and protected by intellectual property law. These terms do not grant you any right in our brand or software beyond the limited right to use the service as intended.
Disclaimers
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error free, or that generated output will meet your requirements.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Better Design will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or one hundred US dollars.
Termination
You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms, if required by law, or to protect the service or its users. On termination, the rights granted to you under these terms end, while sections that by their nature should survive (ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability) continue to apply.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When a change materially affects your rights, we will notify you by email or in app at least 14 days before it takes effect. Minor edits are reflected by updating the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
